Representatives from churches in the Maumee Valley Conference met for their annual spring assembly on April 30 at Bethlehem Lutheran in Okolona. Colleen Richter represented St. John; she delivered the love offering of items gathered for the Kentucky Tornado Victims.
Following worship and Holy Communion, the group heard from Carolyn Guy of the NWO Synod Office. She serves on the Bishop’s staff as social media/communications/and IT director and spoke about the changes that occurred through the pandemic and how the synod worked through various issues during the shut-down. Ms Guy related some of the creative new ideas and pro- grams that have evolved as a result.
A business meeting followed, with reports from officers and committees. Information about our new missionaries in Tanzania, Dr. Stephen and Dr. Jody Swanson, was presented. A vote to con- tinue support of their work passed unanimously.
Election of officers followed. Colleen Richter was elected as Vice-President. She will serve a two- year term, becoming President next year.
The Fall Retreat will be held at St. Stephen in Hamler, on either September 17 or 24 – date to be confirmed.
After installation of new officers, a fellowship time and lunch followed, served by the women of Bethlehem.
